Roland S-4000S

32 inputs and 8 outputs

(S-4000S Stage Boxes can be configured 24/16)

The S-4000S-3208/2416 is a component of the S-4000 Digital Snake System. It has 32 inputs, 8 outputs and redundant Ethernet connectors. It is typically used on the stage providing 32 mic/line inputs and 8 outputs or returns. Each channel has remotely switchable Phantom Power as well as a 20 dB pad. The professional quality XR-1 mic preamps are remotely controllable in zipperless 1dB steps using the S-4000R Remote Controller or a Mac or PC using the free RSS-RCS software. The preamps have been designed for live sound applications and provide superb audio quality with 28 dB of headroom.

The redundant Ethernet connectors are rugged Neutrik Ethercon connectors configured as Main and Backup. In case the Main cable is compromised, the system will automatically and seamlessly switch to the Backup cable and light an Indicator LED. In addition to redundant Ethernet connectors and an optional redundant power supply, the unit has a covered power switch to prevent accidental power loss as well as a power cable security bracket. The S-4000S-3208 is rack mountable and provides flush or recessed mounting positions so that a cover can be placed on its rack case while connectors are still in place.

Roland S-0808

8 inputs & 8 outputs with POE

Superb Quality, Fully Discreet Preamp

All inputs employ a high quality preamp with fully discreet circuit design resulting in outstanding sound. Eliminate the need for direct boxes by using the TRS or Hi-Z inputs. Control input gain (-65 to +10dBu), Pad and Phantom Power via a dedicated S-4000R Remote Controller or using the PC Remote Control Software (S-4000RCS). When using as part of a V-Mixing System, these parameters are controlled directly from the M-480M-300 or M-200i V-Mixer.

The Roland S-0808 needs POE power and must be used with the S-4000m merge unit or the S-4000d POE Router

Roland S-4000R

The Roland digital snakes don’t have to be used with a Roland desk.

By connecting two snakes via a single Cat5e cable and using the S-4000R controller, you can then plug any analogue desk into it…

The S-4000R is a component of the S-4000 Digital Snake System. It allows for zipper-less remote control of preamp levels for an S-4000S-3208 or any other system source configuration up to 40 channels. It can also switch Phantom Power and Pad settings for individual channels. The remote controller can store 9 presets including all of the channel gain and other settings. This allows for fast changes from act to act in a festival and an easy way to return to defaults in an installation.

The S-4000R is typically used at the Front of House console position but can also be used at the Stage position. When a system has two remotes, only one can be active at any time. If the Stage remote is in use, then the FOH unit will be automatically put in a Lock mode. If the FOH operator would like to use the remote, the Lock button is pressed to unlock the remote for use at the FOH position.

The S-4000R is very easy to use. A channel is selected using the channel Dial and then the Gain, Phantom Power and Pad settings can be changed. There is a high res LED Level Meter for the selected channel. There also are indicators showing signal present for each channel. If any channel is clipped, a clip light is shown for that channel and the master Clip button is lit. Pressing the Clip button clears the clip level LEDs. Odd/Even channels can be linked for fast changes to stereo sources.

The S-4000R connects using the provided RS-232c cable. It can be used on top of a console, or rack mounted using the included rack mount kit.

The S-4000R offers a very easy way to control the gain structure and channel settings for an S-4000 Modular Digital Snake, an essential feature of any digital snake system.
